Bracts two pairs, imbricate, a little smaller than cauline leaves, inferior pair broad, plicate, mostly trifid or subquadrifid, lobes sparingly and obtusely repand, dentate, superior ovate, acute, broadly rounded in the middle. Perianth ovate, obtuse, 5-6 plicate, with the angles between the folds rounded and obtuse, mouth laciniate.--(Plate j, Sub-tribe VI. EPIGONIANTHEA.. Leaves succubous or transverse (never incubous).
