Seller's Description:
Smith, Elmer W. Very Good. Second printing of the very scarce hardcover edition, with BCDE on p. 160. 160 pp., profusely ill. in color, index, 8vo, pictorial hardcover. This hardcover edition is about double the size of the more common little pocketbook, and is printed on better quality paper, hence the text and illustrations are much clearer. NOT an ex-library copy, very rare thus. No tears, no wear at all. A superb, unread copy obtained from the original owner. The only noticeable flaw is that the owner has pasted a color illustration of an amanita mushroom onto the top-corner of the first blank page. Otherwise a Fine copy.

This is a really nice book that is a link for modern north America to a traditional past that had been suppressed by the newer formed religions. Most of these plants have been in use prior to the birth of the idea of Christ. I have many books on these topics and this is one of the best. Written with compassion and experience. It is important that the hard work of great men like Richard Schultes does not become lost in the ether of time, for if he did not do this work, the information in this book would surly have been.

When Science was the norm
besides the beautiful sketching and lovely writing; this guide shows a time of America when we were explorative as opposed to exploitative. The fact that this book, nor books like it, are out of circulation shows what a condemning society we have. Enjoy & read about culture, history and the simple plants.
