"Tricked by his cunning...Treated to his savagery...Annie, Linda, and Laurie...fresh, pretty, ready to be taken...stalked by a sadistic power who has returned to claim his new victims, on this...the most frightening night of year: HALLOWEEN."
If you loved the film HALLOWEEN by John Carpenter and Debra Hill, you'll love this novelization by Curtis Richards. Even if you've never seen this film, you'd probably still enjoy this book if you are a lover of horror and suspense.
One of the reasons I liked this novel is because it is not a word-for-word, verbatim rehashing of the film. It is not so different that fans will say, "That's not the way it happened!" but instead gives more dialogue and action. Many of the great scenes are actually expanded. Who knows, maybe these are from deleted scenes in the screenplay. It also gets you into Michael's head a little bit.
Also, this books gives an explanation and backstory to Michael's evil. It is actually very interesting. Although, once you factor in all the sequels, this backstory doesn't hold up, it still works if you take this novelization on it's own. Speaking of on it's own, this novelization is so good that even had the film not become a hit, this book could have very easily flown on its own.
This is a very good read! And at 166 pages, it is not too short or too long.
