She went on sprightly, probably for an effect upon those at the near-by tables, since getting up and approaching a man's table had come to be looked upon as not quite a proper thing. "Yes, I was just telling Mabel--you remember Mabel, Mrs. Rokher, of course--well, I was telling her just the other day that you were one of the people who seemed to be wiped off the map, all of a sudden.
