Mr. Maloney gives a short, fascinating history of world finance in this book. Specifically, a history of how our financial ancestors (going back to the Greeks and Romans) have tried again and again to bypass things of value (often gold & silver) by substituting paper or worthless metal currency in an attempt to create wealth by magic. Funny, it's never worked in the long run. Instead, they always ended up running up huge debts and tried to print enough currency to pay off the debts - again by magic. That didn't go too well either, long term.
The need for money was usually a result of paying for long, drawn-out wars that were fought to satisfy the greed for stuff some other nation possessed. Is anything sounding familiar, here?
A wonderful, well-written book, but be advised - it is not a pleasant look into the future after revisiting the past. You will feel queasy at best.

Very good read. Great informaton about Gold and Silver and I would recommend to anyone looking for solid information that can be trusted.
