From Army Major Marie Rossi's fatal helicopter flight in the Gulf War--the war which opened the doors to women in combat--to the vicious slander campaign against Navy Lieutenant Kara Hultgreen in 1994, when she became the first female combat pilot to die, Francke traces the explosive confrontation between the political forces of equal opportunity and the hostile military culture.

The book isn't a bad in any sense, but it basically amounts to a feminist indictment of males in general, and American male generals in particular.
The book published in 1997 shows relatively little evidence of current problems facing women and focuses more on WWII, Panama and the Gulf and is more a reference to times past. She backs up her claims with the random experiences of a handful of women soldiers, and testimonies from the Pentagons feminist lobby and embittered female veterans.
While sexual harassment is lamentable, it is often an inevitable result of throwing together testosterone driven young men and women in a crowded, stressful, and emotional environment.
Overall, my opinion of this book is that it's a book written by feminists for feminists.
