Back in 1928, a graduate student in'the University of North Carolina named Arthur Raper wrote a doctor's thesis on Greene and Macon Counties Georgia. It was here that the reconstruction really began for Greene County. In 1934, Raper was given a Rosenwald Fund Fellowship to make a further study of these same two Georgia counties.
