The upper story, referred to in these inscriptions as the "naos," evidently had the form of a little peripteral temple facing the south. The walls of the cella were superposed above the front part of the arcosolia below on the north, west and south sides: the east side had no arcosolium below, and hence the east wall of the cella above must have rested on the east wall of the lower chamber. The east wall of the lower chamber then must have been provided with a portico which supported the east side of the peristyle above, while this peristyle on the other three sides rested upon a kind of podium built upon the rear portion of the arcosolia of the lower chamber and upon the solid rock which lay behind these.
