With the emergence of shows like Bands Reunited and Hit Me Baby One More Time, and the VH1 Classic channel in the early 21st century, suddenly oft-forgotten rock acts from the early '80s were thrust back into the spotlight. So it didn't take a genius to realize that these bands should come out of hiding, and "package tours" began being assembled. One such bill assembled in 2001 was comprised of the Fixx, Berlin, and the Motels, which resulted in a live compilation, 2002's Greatest Hits Live. Collecting standouts from the trio's performance at Los Angeles' Universal Amphitheatre on July 21, 2001, countless favorites from the early days of MTV are included. Highlights include the Motels' "Only the Lonely," the Fixx's "Saved by Zero," and Berlin's "The Metro," the latter of which has a more hard-rocking edge than the original. On some veteran act package tours, it's easy to pick out which artists still sound like "real" bands, and which ones sound like they're merely going through the motions for a paycheck. But all three bands here sound very strong musically -- especially each group's respective vocalist.
