Selbstbeschrankungsabkommen (Orderly marketing) waren dabei ein besonders beliebtes und juristisch schwer greifbares Instrument. Im Rahmen der GATT-Uruguay-Runde 1986-1993 gehorte die Eindammung der "Grauzonen" zu den wichtigsten Aufgaben der neugeschaffenen Welthandelsorganisation WTO. Bestandteil der Schluaakte von Marrakesch 1994 ist daher eine neue WTO-Schutzklauselordnung, die ein ausdruckliches Verbot samtlicher Grauzonenmaanahmen enthalt. Die an der Tubinger Forschungsstelle Weltwirtschaftsrecht entstandene Studie zeigt die negativen Auswirkungen von Protektionismus auf und geht der Frage der Vereinbarkeit von Selbstbeschrankungsabkommen mit den GATT-Vorschriften nach. Abschlieaend werden die neuen Regelungen des WTO-Schutzklauselabkommens auf ihre Tragfahigkeit gepruft und mogliche Folgen analysiert. Insgesamt zeigt sich, daa mit der Prazisierung des Art. XIX GATT 1994 durch das WTO-Schutzklauselabkommen ein Stuck Rechtssicherheit gewonnen wurde und daher eine wesentliche Schrumpfung der "Grauzone" erwartet werden darf.
