From the first page, on which Grandma bakes a noodle pudding and sets it to cool (the very thing which later lures the pirates), right up until the final page, this novel was rip-roaring fun. The noodle pudding aspect actually reminded me of my own Grandmother, which definately added to the fun in my mind. However, even without a noodle pudding-cooking grandmother of your own, this book is a great read for children and adults alike.
