At Last! The most accurate, complete, up-to-date guide to closed captioned video. Containing over 5,000 titles, this publication was designed to provide information & eliminate confusion concerning closed captioned video programming. The guide, divided into 23 categories, provides extensive information about each video (cast, synopsis, rating, length, etc.), & has a full alphabetical index for quick reference. This book is especially timely now that all new televisions in the U.S. will have built-in decoders, making closed captions readily available. Mr. Gopen, a video store owner & father of a deaf child, spent two years compiling this guide. Starting with his store's 6,000 titles & help from other video stores, he & his staff actually viewed over 9,000 tapes to determine their true closed captioned status. Information from his database of 300 video distributors, studios, & captioning companies was also utilized. He has produced an exceptionally useful aid for deaf & hard of hearing viewers who will no longer have to search for captioned videos box by box. In addition to the more than 25 million people in the above category, closed captioning has also been shown to be an extremely effective tool for teaching & improving reading skills.
