The book is a wealth of knowledge that although written over 50 years ago has timeless applications. I found the authors observations on the care, husbandry and training of hunting hounds to be valuable to the modern houndsman regardless of the breed or the game pursued. The stories and wit he shares of his own life and adventures reflect a different time in American history but the reader will be taken back to that era with a comfortable grace and charm.I have loaned my copy to several friends and we all agree this is an excellent read for anyone who loves the hounds and the chase.
