Like fellow steel guitarist Noel Boggs, Day could venture into easy listening territory as evidenced on the Steel & Strings album, which is indistinguishable from the music of 101 Strings. The mellow mood is exacerbated by the use a vocal chorus on both albums (which isn't necessarily bad, but isn't what many buyers would expect).
