Worth reading
The story in this book is told in the pictures as well as in the text. Both are worth perusing with care especially as they comment on each other. This is going west as a journey with much sadness as well as courage. Returning again and again to the pictures yields deeper insights into what was the cost of this westward movement to those who undertook it. All is not grim, however, and there are touches of humor. For those who enjoy the Little House books, this version provides another perspective.
