Good. No Jacket. Size: 8vo-over 7? "-9? " tall; Type: Hardback 1905 A. L. Fowle, Publishers. First published 1867 by D Appleton and Company. This is One Book in Good Condition from the Special Edition of a Set of L. Muhlbach's Historical Fiction. Luise Muhlbach is the pen name for Clara Mundt, b. 1814 Neubrandenburg, d. 1873. She was a German writer best known for her works of historical fiction. They were quite popular for a relatively short time. Many, if not all, were translated into English. This novel was translated from the German by Chapman Coleman. The books in this set are all bound in red extended cloth over the spine with the gilt rubbed off the titles which are imprinted into the spine--looks blind-stamped now; boards covered with green cloth, quite clean, small pock mark to green cloth on front, corner tips lightly scuffed, some edges rubbed, sewn binding tight, solid and square. Bookplate of former owner on inside of front cover. Frontis: Schiller in His Attic, on coated paper, historic illustration, and three additional like illustrations--they are quite fine, in detail, expression, clothing, background, full page, monotone. Pages quite clean, one spot on the text block edges, no underlining, highlighting, or any other marking of text, no creases no marginalia, lightly toned. There may be an occasional spot but I didn't find any. 494 pages. 7.5 x 5 inches. 1905, A. L. Fowle, Publishers, New York, USA.
