At the beginning of this first monograph about faith in the Pastoral Epistles, the author examines some fundamental terms, such as faith, pistis, fides/credere as well as the Corpus Pastorale, the Pastoral Epistles or the TritoPaulines. German description: Vom Glauben (Pistis) ist in den Pastoralbriefen in vielfachen Kontexten und mehr als in anderen fruhchristlichen Schriften die Rede. Trotz des sehr engen Anschlusses an Paulus sind aber z.B. nicht die Werke des Gesetzes als Gegensatz im Blick. Eine Auslegung samtlicher Belege zeigt, dass Pistis im Corpus Pastorale eine grosse Breite aufweist: Glaube bildet einerseits eine Art Rahmenbegriff und Grundwort fur das Christliche uberhaupt und bleibt andererseits christologisch bestimmt; er bildet die Grundrelation zwischen Gott und Mensch und stellt eine belastbare Basis der Gemeinschaft dar.
