Letizia entstammt dem Patriziergeschlecht der Ramolino, die ebenfalls, wie die Bonaparte, aus Norditalien in Korsika eingewandert waren. Sp???ter hatten sie sich mit einer der reichsten italienischen Adelsfamilien, dem gr???flichen Geschlechte der Collalto, durch Heirat verbunden. Im fr???hen Kindesalter wurde Letizia vaterlos. Ihre Mutter, eine geborene de Pietra Santa, verheiratete sich jedoch 1757 in zweiter Ehe mit dem aus Basel geb???rtigen Hauptmann eines Schweizerregiments, das in genuesischen Diensten stand.
