Very Good. No Jacket. Book Likely first edition, 1879 with no additional printings listed. Tightly bound with gilded imagery, titles and textblock. Light slant to spine and edge wear at spine tips. The contents have some light soiling and penciling. This copy is from a 19th Century private lending institution, the Mercantile Library of New York (Astor Place). There is a handwritten number and Mercantile Library stamp on the title page and a number of the internal pages including plates. There are no other indications of the library's ownership.
