Da das Gemeinwesen' nicht mit Bewusstsein zu einem Rechtsstaat eingerichtet war; da der Geist, anuoch ohne Tiefe und arm, vom Audrange der Erscheinungen ???berw???ltigt wurde so gewannen sie keine Uebung im Zergliedern ???ffentlicher Zu. St???nde und Begebenheiten; so aber kennt auch ihre Geschicht sehreibung keine Kritik, und darum mangelt ferner die daraus entspringende Ruhe, der Gleiehrnuth des echt historischen Styls. Bei verh???ltnissm???ssig grosser Wahrheitsliebe berichten sie zu ihren Leuten haltend mit Gunst und mit Abneigung; und hieraus erw???chst falsche Apologetik, Uebertreibung, besond???rs, wo sie am n???chsten liegt, bei der Zahl, und Geh???ssigkeit gegen die Fremden: mitunter lauten die Worte so, als rede, dem Erz???hler unbewusst, der Volks und Sprachgeist geradezu selber.
