This is a reproduction of the Centennial edition of a California Mines and Minerals Department report on California's Gold Country from 1948 and the reproduction is of poor quality.
The publisher, Nabu Public Domain Reprints, warns of issues in a disclaimer in the front of the book, but some of the problems are so severe that they deserve comment, such as pages where the scanning is so bad as to be completely illegible, (page 54 for example) an obvious quality control problem.
Another difficulty is the choice to print the volume in portrait rather than landscape mode, so the pages are apparently reduced in size from the original material.
Having said this, and given the difficulty in reading the reduced and blurred type, it is still a valuable resource for those of us interested in the history of California's mineral resources.
At best, the book description on your site should discuss these issues.
