I use this version of Gawain and the Green Knight to introduce the text to students in 12th grade British Literature.
The story contains the most significant parts of the original and is accompanied by wonderful art. The large scale illustrations are vibrant and resonate with the text. My favorite is Lady B- and her fluttering birdlike hands. The small scale illustrations (the scenes on the belt) tie the whole story together.
Even though it is a children's book, my students love to have it read to them and they all sit up for the pictures. Every time I use this book the discussions that result tend to look at more than the surface of the story.
