For a long time the weight of inferred authorship leaned to Dr. John Still, Bishop of Bath and Wells others favoured the suggestion that this honour belonged to Dr. John Bridges, Dean of Salisbury and Bishop of Latterly, however, Dr Bradley, one of the Editors Oxford English Dictionary, put forward a case favour of one William Stevenson, a Fellow of Christ's College probably from 1551 to 1561. Dr. Bradley's presentation and deductions originally appeared in Professor resentative English Comedies (macmillan Co., I was subsequently permitted the privilege of full quotation therefrom in Anonymous Plays, Ser III (e E D Bridges' claims were discussed fully in p I may mention that a salient point in Dr. Bradley's argument hinges on the similarity of the title-pages of Gammer Gurton's Needle The Disobedient Child.
