The title is perfectly apt. Written in the first half of the twentieth century, to complement two previous books (predictably, Treasury I and II) the present one offers a generous compendium of information, tremendously useful to anyone seriously interested in the subject. I do not mean "just" Early American, although it is evidently directed there, but furniture in the widest sense. Those who actually KNOW how to read books, drawing from them the smallest drop of wisdom, will undoubtedly be the richer, for having read it. I find the author's style utterly charming, redolent as it is of its era. There is much subtle wit, which is all the more enjoyable for being so gently understated. Whilst I do not necessarily agree with all its specifics ( I have read it with relish and am rereading it still), it has added in no small measure to my knowledge of the subject, while affording much intellectual pleasure. Highly recommended.

Nice detail.
Typical early 20th century writting, fun sometimes! Lots of photos and detailed sketches.
