Rufus Thomas would storm the soul charts in 1970, scoring three hits, two of them in the Top 10. The title track and his number one smash "(Do The) Push and Pull" were identical -- dance-based novelty tunes featuring Thomas' manic instructions and bluesy shouts backed by surging, horn-based soul and funk from the Stax band. It wasn't earth-shaking, just fun, brilliantly produced and arranged stuff. ~ Ron Wynn, Rovi
