Some descriptions of older types of plant have been deleted, and the whole book has been carefully revised. In spite of the progress which is being made in the adoption of the metric system in this country, it is unfortunately still necessary to use the British system of weights and measures. These have therefore been retained. The author hopes that the changes made will add to the. Useful ness of the book.
