Al Capp in his liberal years
This is a delightful, comic piece of work I knew from my childhood. Not from Capp's daily comic strip, these are a half dozen or so moral tales, told chapter form, in high comic style. Many of the Li'l Abner characters appear, such as Gen. Bullmoose, who demonstrates for Abner's little brother Tiny how to make a million dollars by buying land from, then reselling to, the natives of Slobbovia.
Curiously, David Manning White gets top billing on the bookcover, even though he contributes a mere few pages of commentary on the works. Though you have to hunt a little for his name, it's all Al Capp. Capp's comics always had a sociopolitical dimension, but these pieces in this book represent the thoughtful peak of his work.
