Zugleich finden Forschungsperspektiven der Kriminalitats- und Rechtsgeschichte, aber auch der Sozial- und Gesellschaftsgeschichte Berucksichtigung. Dabei wird deutlich, dass die Protokolle der Wertheimer Zent nicht nur die lokalen Verhaltnisse spiegeln: Das Zentgericht war weniger ein Instrument der herrschaftlichen Kontrolle und Regulierung, sondern diente vor allem der genossenschaftlichen Friedenssicherung.
