Autobiographies are sometimes written too early in a person's life. Still, this work is a good reminder of what this man has been through, and as such, it should be used as a reference whenever liberals start gushing over the Chinese communist government. Don't fool yourselves. The Chinese government is ruthless. It says a lot about the Dalai Lama's advanced spirituality, that he can forgive some in that government for what they have done to Tibet and its people. Still, ironically, at the end of the book, he calls himself a semi-Marxist and believes that communism can be a good fit for Buddhists. Go figure. I wonder if he has changed his mind over the years since he wrote this autobiography. Read it.
