Among those still living at an advanced age, however, I am glad to reckon Mrs. Attwell, the widow of my old schoolmaster, Professor Attwell: and I take this opportunity to express my deep regard for both of them, and appreciation of the happy time I spent at their school, Nassau House, Barnes. The publication of this book has been delayed by several causes - the war, and a very serious operation I had to undergo in the spring of 1915. I wish to express my grateful thanks to my friend, S.
