Released to coincide with the publication of Hag's autobiography, My House of Memories, For the Record: 43 Legendary Hits is a lavish double-disc set of re-recordings of his biggest hits. With co-producer Lou Bradley, Haggard wisely keeps things spare, simple, and direct, letting the 1999 version of the Strangers, along with a number of studio musicians, treat these songs gracefully.
