the alibris sypnosis is erroneous.this book is a treatise on why we hunt, particulary as it pertains to wing shooting with the emphasis on bobwhites.it contains a lot of useful information on the habits and lifecycles of these birds. the setting is north florida not france! the author has an 800 acre farm which he is turning into a quail\wildlife paradise.the book relates this journey and the author intersperses the story with anecdotes, philosophy, reflections in a tradition formulated by aldo leopald.it is very well written and is a classic. if my bookshelf could only contain 20 books this one would be among them.
