In the face of a maze of brittle and binding church creeds and a bewildering variety of complex and often coercive church organizations scattered across the Christian community, this movement of the Church of God has attempted to remain open to the fresh and freeing moves of the Spirit of God. It's polity, or chosen way of being together, has sought a dynamic flexibility featuring an open Bible and the constant guidance of the Spirit. While much of traditional church life has tended to function in mechanical and manipulative ways more related to the non-church world than to what the New Testament teaches, there has been a persistent determination in the Church of God. Such is not to be so among us! We seek in these pages to remember the milestones of the past and celebrate what God already has done as one body of Christians has sought to follow God's light and journey together for the sake of the divine mission in the world. It is inevitable that the best of that history will be remembered and translated in ways that will enlighten the challenges of today and enable God's intended tomorrow. So, let us remember yesterday. Let us translate for today. Let us be what God wants us to be. Let us continue to follow God's light!
