If you are interested in researching anecdotes and quips about the history of Olympic swimming, then this book will prove helpful. If you seek a deeper understanding of the personalities and events surrounding the sport, or a more novelized approach, you might wish to seek elsewhere. I enjoyed this book, once I became accustomed to its almost newspaper-like format, which wasn't at all what I'd expected. I did learn a great many amusing facts, however, and found the book quite easy to read. I would call it wide ranging, rather than deep; but highly diverting, nevertheless. Definitely, worth the purchase.
