The seven symphonies and a handful of shorter orchestral works have been recorded by Marko Letonja and the Sinfonieorchester Basel for CPO in the multichannel format, and this box set of hybrid SACDs is a handsome tribute to an artist whose output was far from nugatory, ranging from chamber works to concertos, but was eclipsed by his contemporaries, Gustav Mahler and Richard Strauss.
