Father Frank Browne S.J. took some 42,000 photographs during his long life (1880-1960). Following his return to Ireland from Australia in 1925, until illness caused him to gradually forego photography in the early 1950s, he took over 30,000 photographs around the country. Some 4,600 of these were Dublin pictures.
