Seller's Description:
None. Very Good. An early, scarce contemporary edition, of this comical play, a sequel written by William Kenrick to two of Shakespeare's plays. A scarce contemporary edition of this work. A new edition of this work. With a half-title and final leaf of epilogue, as called for by the ESTC. Collated, complete. 'Falstaff's Wedding' is a play, written intended to be a sequel to Shakespeare's plays 'Henry IV, Part II', and 'The Merry Wives of Windsor'. The play was written in imitation of Shakespeare. There are two versions of the play, one published in 1760 which is written in verse and more serious, as Falstaff is drawn into a plot to kill Henry V, and the second published in 1766, which is a far more comical play. Written by the English novelist, satrist, and playwright William Kenrick. He spent the majority of his career libelling and lampooning his contemporary writers. Prior owner's ink inscription to the half-title, 'James....'. Disbound. Externally, the outer leaves are lightly age-toned with the occasional mark. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned with the odd spot. Loss to the half-title, not affecting text, but causing loss to the last name of the ink inscription. Very Good.
