The summation of contents within this book are essentially what the cover illustrates. I chose the landmass of the United States covered with the U.S. Flag because the flag is supposed to represent or is the symbol of a "nations values", what it stands for. It is the land where the people live, but it is the flag that covers the land that's soaked with blood, sweat and tears. Some nations fly their flag high with great pride knowing that it doesn't represent majority of its inhabitants. A great deal of the people is not included in the promise and ideals of their country. Most are given a false sense of hope, unity and equality. The Declaration of Independence says that "All Men" are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain Inalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness. These "Rights" are yet to be realized by a large portion of this country's population. The history of a land and the manner in which the land is currently being governed by those that hold authority will be the determining factor if the country's flag is regarded with respect or disdain. The flag that covers the landmass conceals the history of this nation and all of its atrocities against the original people whose land was stolen and the original people that were stolen from their ancestral land and brought here to be slaves. The people will expose the truth if a nation and its flag doesn't live up to its promise. The manner in which the government treats its citizens is a key factor if individuals will wave their flag high with pride. This book serves to uncover and highlight some of our most recent issues in which this divided nation still waves its flag in false units, knowing that their acts are in direct opposition to the promise of the land in which they reside.
