Errata, pencil checks in margins of a few pgs, foxing to text, extensive ink notes ins 2nd fr flylf, ink initials title page. Some staining to margins and fore-edge (no pages stuck). This copy belonged to Richard Rush, who served as American minister to Great Britain from 1817 to 1825. The book is autographed by Rush, and contains his extensive notes on the second front flyleaf summarizing the author's arguments and evaluating their importance. Although the book is identified as "Part I, " no further parts were ever published.
