Interesting about old Ireland.
This is a comparatively old book now (published in 2002; originally in 1999), but all the same is very intersting and gives the history of the old Irish Royal Gaelic families before the English invasion in the 1170s, and even more interesting, follows up with what happened with the 'old families' after the final fall of Celtic/Gaelic Ireland after the battles of the Boyne and Aughrim in 1690 and 1691. The fact that the descendants of the Kings of Munster, Ulster, Connaught and Leinster, together with many scions of 'lesser' Princely houses, still live among 'us' is astonishing when you think of the time span. MacCarthys, O'Neills, O'Connors, etc. can more or less prove their ancestry back to the 3rd, 4th and 5th centuries A.D.! And this is acknowledged by professional experts like the Norroy and Ulster King of Arms.
Very readable and warmly recommended!
