Seller's Description:
Very good. Seller's Description:
Fine. No dust jacket as issued. First edition, first printing. Hardcover. Photographically illustrated cloth-covered boards with title printed in red on spine; no dust jacket as issued. Paintings and text by Eric Fischl. Includes a biography, exhibition history and a bibliography. Designed by Anthony McCall Associates. Unpaginated (32 pp. ), with 9 four-color plates (including 4 two-page spreads). 13 x 9-1/4 inches. Published on the occasion of a 1990 exhibition at Mary Boone Gallery. Fine. This exhibition catalogue features Fischl's large oil-on-linen paintings of Indian subjects, as well as an impressionistic text, "India in My Imagination." From an ARTnews review by Barbara A. MacAdam: "Like his earlier work, Eric Fischl's 'travel' paintings are surprisingly disconcerting, and their appeal--or interest--often comes with the second look. In these works, however, Fischl doesn't add drama to the commonplace or turmoil to tranquility as he does in his 'suburban' paintings; rather, he builds on the unfamiliar, which he doesn't need to make any stranger than it is."
