Considering this encyclopedia is from the 80's, it covers everything from Roy Acuff to the sitar. I mostly purchased it for the Country and Western parts. There is a short article for most popular country and western artists as well as folk. If you are looking for something that will refresh you on popular artists from the 40's to the late 70's this book is for you. If you are looking for extensive stories and history of these genres, look elsewhere. For what I was looking for, it works great.
