She, the third officer and her father, also injured in the battle, are taken to a navy carrier for treatment. While the three are recuperating, a spaceship lands on the carrier. On board the spacecraft is a seriously ill extraterrestrial that requires immediate surgery. International Planetary Quarantine regulations prevent the surgeon from coming in direct contact with ETs.
