This thrilling story has many characters threaded. It leads into "Kiss of the Moon" which leads to "Outlaw" which leads to "Wild & Wicked", etc. It is wonderful to find books that are not really series stories (you can read one or even out of order and still get a full story) but which the characters are SO STRONG themselves (whether the central figures or minor characters in the plot) that they warrant additional story lines. Witching or bewitching? The heroine is brought into a plot so fraught with danger that she dares not to be a part of due to her "visions" that this is the very place that will cause the danger of death to her own family. A plot that unfolds with her as the only help available is really a ruse in order to gain control of a Baron's castle and cast her in the role of wife to a deadly man. Her hand promised by the Baron and permission given by an angry father in the throws of teaching a lesson, she is forced. She catches glimpses, she talks in riddles (as her visions are not complete - but it turns out it is not her fault - this was all planned) to the Baron who is searching for his kidnapped toddler. They spar, they fight, they love and they team, only to fight again. Distrust abounds, rightly so. It is just that the suspicions are unfounded and misplaced by Morgana and Garrick. This tale is intricate and she makes the ultimate sacrafice. She is heroine through and through - she matches the hero in intensity. Poorly timed visions and riddles have her relying finally only on herself in order to complete the tasks and save the child and the man she has come to love.
