This is a book that could change your life!
"The only thing that matters is faith working through Love"...Galatians 5:16.
This is how James begins his book, before the introduction. There are very few books worth reading more than once. (except the Bible!) This book is one of them!
God wants to shower you with His Love so you can soak it up, grow in faith, and pass it on to everyone around you, thereby glorifying God, and returning Love to Him!
There are three parts in the book, each with three chapters...They are as follows;
Knowing God's Acceptance...
some excerpts... "We do not deserve God's acceptance & love. It is a gift. Gifts have nothing to do with the merit of the receiver"
"We are who God says we are."
"The path of our healing is not one of self-improvement, but rather of self-surrender."
"God heals us by removing the core of our shame; the fear of rejection. When we are honest with God, when our souls have been laid bare, and we experience His acceptance, the fear of abandonment subsides. God will not leave us."
Receiving God's Forgivenesss...
some excerpts..."When Jesus asked Peter three times, "Do you love me?" he was restoring him, healing his memory of the three times he had denied Jesus."
"God does not view our actions in the same way we do. God does not measure sin, or place a greater or lesser value on certain sins."
"Forgiveness is not a reforming act, it is a releasing act. We do not forgive someone in order to change them. We forgive in order to set ourselves free."
"The failure to forgive damages us."
and Experiencing God's Care...
an excerpt... "God provides for us the example of how to care for one another. How does God care for us? God cares for our spiritual life, God cares for the health of our soul, and God provides for our physical needs. God is available, God listens, and God never abandons us. This is how we are to care for one another."
"Caring for ourselves is largely a matter of allowing God to care for us...God values our freedom and will not coerce us into loving Him or being obedient to Him...if we are to become aware of God's presence, we must search."
I recently had the opportunity to hear James Bryan Smith speak at a Renovare' conference, and he walks the talk. Buy this book...you won't regret it!
