Pronunciation of Numerals. Note that a. The final consonant of cinq, six, sept, huit, neuf, and dix is sounded when counting or at the end of a phrase, final x being sounded like s. Before a word beginning with a vowel sound the regular rules of linking prevail. Before a word beginning with a consonant these final letters are silent. b. There is no elision before huit and onze.
