Los cap???tulos 1 al 10 s??? son biogr???ficos en el sentido convencional, pero los que siguen, del 11 al 22 son un tratado de oraci???n, y del 32 al 36 nos describe la primera fundaci???n del convento de San Jos??? de ???vila. En su pr???logo comienza: "Quisiera yo que, como me han mandado y dado larga licencia para que escriba el modo de oraci???n y las mercedes que el Se???or me ha hecho, me la dieran para que por muy menudo y con claridad dijera mis grandes pecados y ruin vida." (Vida Pr???logo, 1). Escribe por obediencia, no por gusto, y considera incompleto el relato en que le piden excluya sus faltas.
