Excerpt: ... the great plan conceived by Solomon was completed by subsequent kings, and that large portions of the wall may have been repaired and rebuilt after the captivity or even as late as the extensive restorations undertaken by Herod the Great. If we are right in placing the altar of burnt-offering on the Sakhra, the Temple of Solomon must have stood nearly in the middle of the Haram area, on the same platform which now supports the Mosque of Omar.
