For Egon Schiele Lower Austria represented both the world in which he lived and a space of yearning. He spent almost his entire life in this region, between Tulln, Krems, Klosterneuburg, Neulengbach, M???hling and Vienna. These landscapes and towns are therefore important milestones in the artist's development. In addition to the individual creative periods and places, this volume also explores previously neglected influences such as his interest in X-rays and the art of Franz von Stuck.
