The objectives were to determine the physical (EFA), economic (EEA) and social (ESA) water efficiency, as well as the physical (PFA), economic (PEA) and social (PSA) productivity of water used in peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) crop production in Chihuahua in 2019. Water efficiency and productivity models of Rios et al (2015, 2018) were used for an individual crop as well as at the aggregate level for the whole agricultural sector, these models were fed with production data at the commercial level from SIAP and production ...

Water efficiency and productivity models of Rios et al (2015, 2018) were used for an individual crop as well as at the aggregate level for the whole agricultural sector, these models were fed with production data at the commercial level from SIAP and production costs from AGROFIRME S. A. de C. V. SOFOM ENR. The results indicate that the EFA, EEA and ESA were equal to 1,366 Liters of water per kg, 0.536 m3 of water per USD gain and 52,825 m3 job-1, respectively, while the PFA, PEA and PSA indicators were equal to 0.732 kg m-3, USD 186,546 gain per hm3 and 18.93 jobs hm-3, respectively. The EFA (1,366 L kg-1) of peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) from Chihuahua was 51% below the world average of 2,780 L kg-1 reported by Mekonnen and Hoekstra (2010).
